The Official Closing Ceremony of the II National Games

The II National Games of the Special Olympics Azerbaijan has been started on April 10, 2016. The official opening ceremony took place on April, 30 at “Shagan” Olympic Complex. The National Games incudes 8 sports as athletics, basketball, badminton, football, handball, powerlifting, table tennis and volleyball. Up to 1000 athletes took place in these Games.

At the same time, these competitions are kind of selections for 2017 international competitions.

The following teams from Ganja, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Sheki, Geoychay, Salyan regions, Baku city and Absheron Peninsula took place in the 2nd National Games:

- Khazar district special boarding school #4
- Khazar district Republican special boarding school #6 for disabled children, named after E.Mirzayev
- Khazar district general secondary boarding school #2 for children deprived of parental care
- Sabunchu district training integrated boarding school #11
- Nasimi district special education school #11
- Nizami district special education school #3
- Garadagh district Republican special boarding school #9 for disabled children, named after E.Guliyev
- Khazar district Social Service Organization #1 for disabled children
- Absheron district Social Service Organization #2 for disabled children

The official closing ceremony was on May 25 at “Shefa” stadium – “Inter” Professional Sport Club Arena, Heydar Aliyev avenue, Baku. Before the closing ceremony, mini-football competitions finished with the following results:

The guests of honour, invited to the official closing ceremony, awarded the football tournament winners. The Special Olympics Committee and “Inter” Professional Sport Club held this tournament.

During the period of the games the Special Olympics Committee was collaborating with all the federations of the sports, included in National Games program, also with the National Olympic Committee, the ministries of labour and social protection, youth and sports, education.
