On September 26, 2019, theoretical and practical training of four women's teams was held within the joint project of UNFPA Azerbaijan (UNFPA) and the Special Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan.

The event was held in Sheki secondary school 5. Representatives of the Special Olympics, the UN Population Fund, Sheki Executive Power, Sheki City Sports Department and the city community participated in the training. Mr. Karl Kulessa, UNFPA Representative in Turkey and Country Director for Azerbaijan and Georgia attended the training, spoke to athletes and partners and wished them success. Since last year, the UN Population Fund jointly with the Azerbaijan Special Olympic Committee, a project to empower girls with and without intellectual disabilities through football, continues its work in Shaki. The project, which involved up to 40 girls from 4 secondary schools and 2 boarding schools in Sheki, demonstrates that there are no restrictions on the football field and that there are no obstacles to teamwork.
