According to the calendar plan of sporting events in 2019, the held the Republican selection competitions of Special Olympics Azerbaijan on 5 types of sports during the spring season in May-June.

Qualifying competitions in May-June on judo, table tennis, athletics, football and swimming has been selective feature of international competition which will be held in 2020. About 1000 athletes from Baku and Absheron regions orphanages, auxiliary and special boarding schools, as well as teams from Ganja, Sumgayit, Sheki, Lankaran, Goychay and Salyan Regional Programs have participated in Special Olympics Azerbaijan competitions.
